I am learning all about self-promotion! It sure has been a busy week. I’ve been dashing about town into all our local libraries and some delightful cafes (see Facebook for enviable cheesecake photo) dropping off flyers and posters for my very first official author event with kerrydrewery on Oct 29th at Cleethorpes Library at 7.30 pm. All the librarians at Humberston (thanks particularly to Vonny) and Laceby (very nice to see Sue again, who used to work at Humberston and is a star librarian) and Scartho and Cleethorpes have been so helpful and positive. I’ve also been handing out some flyers to mums in the playground and at swimming – thank you to all of them and everyone else I’ve thrust a flyer at for being so polite about it! And to Mrs Miller for taking a poster to put up in the staff room. I went into Cleethorpes Library today and met very nice Jude and spoke to equally nice Sandy from Grimsby Library on the phone, and we can now confirm there will be tea/coffee/orange & CAKE (Kerry and I will be providing the latter). Kerry and I spent the morning yesterday planning out our readings and discussion points. We are hoping people will ask questions too as we go along; otherwise we are liable to gas on all night, so somebody has to stop us…As well as FREE CAKE, we will also be bringing our picture walls, research texts, notebooks, index cards etc for a display to show how we research and give insights into the writing process. It should prove to be an interesting and informative evening, we hope, and DID I SAY FREE CAKE??
Hope to see you there…
